There was a magnificent response from the bowling community with bowlers in the Rhymney Valley and Cardiff districts entering 24 rinks (96 bowlers) in the competition. On top of this a number of clubs also helped in material ways by giving donations and raffle prizes. A great number of raffle prizes were also donated from members of our own club together with some from local businesses.

As befitting the first winners names to be entered on the tournament shield were those of a Penyrheol team. A rink from Ystrad Mynach and Gilfach came runners up, with the third place again taken by a Penyrheol team, with St Albans coming fourth.

The presentations to the winning teams were made by Mr John Evans, Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council. Our thanks to John for giving up his valuable time and supporting this good cause.

Our thanks must also go to Carl Coombes who had the original idea and put in a lot of initial groundwork for the day, also to fellow club members Jack Humphreys, Mike Corcoran and Aneurin Evans for their invaluable help in organising everything. We also had tremendous help from a very willing and able group of ladies, who supplied us all with lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Thank you ladies yours efforts were greatly appreciated. Finally our thanks to a number of club members and the Council who did some sterling work in giving a much needed facelift to parts of our pavilion.

> We had a really enjoyable day of bowls capped off by some very sunny weather and importantly we raised a magnificent total of £1133 for Velindre. Well done everyone!

So to all concerned a very big 'Thank You' and we look forward to your unstinting support next year.
Lets see if we can beat this years total!
